Our goal is to find ways to make the isolated minor asylum seekers connect, learn and cooperate with each other. We need to help them establish a community. This will help them feel that they belong somewhere, that they are not alone, and that they have a group from which they can seek help and support. Step by step, our aim is to help them feel comfortable, hopeful towards the future, and to become part of a community with a common vision. We can act as an intermediary group to bring these young people together.
The main purpose is to empower these young refugees to rediscover their talents so that they may succesfully build a future for themselves. By organizing various activities, such as sports, arts and crafts, and fundraising meals, we hope to be guided in the right direction.
Reaching this goal will be achieved in the first place by setting up a football competition. This competition will be an efficient and useful way to distract the asylum seekers from their problems and uncertainties. It gives them a chance to enjoy life in a competitive way.
With this sports event we also want to achieve getting the local ex-asylum seekers and the Dutch community involved with the current minor asylum seekers. In order to create awareness of the issues the asylum seekers are facing we will be organising fundraising meals and also invite people to the sports events.
Most of the isolated minor asylum seekers are of Afghan origin, this is about 80%. The others are mostly Syrian, Eritrean or other.
